Egerton University remains committed to address the knowledge and skills gap in achieving sustainable development. Enhanced collaboration with TVET institutions is important towards provision of knowledge and solutions to underpin the implementation of key national development goals.

Egerton University has a long history of offering extension services to the communities. The university uses many avenues to reach the community, one of them being the Egerton Radio hosted at 101.7 FM or online streaming https://www.egerton.ac.ke/radio. “Kilimo Bora”, a Swahili word translated to ‘Good Agriculture’, is an agricultural show hosted on Egerton Radio.

A three-months Students Experiential learning and community outreach program

Start-ups and small-scale agri-input suppliers (AIS) play critical roles in Kenya’s agricultural development sector. Nakuru county is the leading producer of flowers, potatoes, milk and vegetables in Kenya; creating an enabling environment for AIS start-upsto thrive.

TAGDev program is dedicated in ensuring that the students are adequately prepared in utilizing the acquired knowledge while at school for enhanced agricultural transformation after completing their studies. One such approach is to educate students on how to source for funding through Non-Governmental Organizations, especially those focusing on agricultural activities and community development and providing insight on requirements for employment so that as they graduate they can be able to adapt easily. To achieve this objective, the program organized a seminar on opportunities in the NGO world and requirements for employment.

The TAGDev Program recently concluded a productive three-day review meeting with the University Management Board (UMB) at the FK Resort and Spa in Nyeri, Kenya (June 13th-15th, 2024). This meeting served as a valuable platform to showcase the program's achievements and engage in discussions about TAGDev 2.0.
